ADVANCEMENTS
- Advancement is the process by which youth members of the BSA progress from rank to rank in their scouting trail. Advancement is simply a means to an end, not an end in itself. Everything done to earn theses ranks are designed to help a scout have an exciting and meaningful experience.
- A badge is a recognition of what a scout is able to do, not merely a reward for what he has done.
- No unit has the authority to add or subtract from advancement requirements.
- Awarding a rank advancement should not wait until the next major ceremony (Blue & Gold, Court of Honor, etc..). If a scout achieves a rank advancement- he should be awarded at the next unit event (Pack meeting or Troop meeting), and then formally recognized at the next major event.
- The Akela district would like to review all unit advancements to help insure that every scout is receiving a quality experience. A happy scout means that he will tell his friends about what scouting is all about!
